This week has been all about Seafair, so let’s switch gears to another family-friendly summer festival. Friday (today), Saturday, and Sunday, the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce will be holding their 60th annual Magnolia Summerfest.
WHEN: Friday, 3pm-11pm; Saturday, 10am-10pm; Sunday, 10am-5pm
WHERE: Magnolia Playfield • West Smith Street & 33rd Avenue West
The Seafair Parade boasts a 2-hour special, featuring Seafair Pirates, floats, and bands. In addition to the Seafair Pirates, Clowns, and Drill Teams, other festive floats include, the American Red Cross, All-City Band, and the Washington State Eagles Youth King & Queen.
Alongside the parade and other Seafair weekend celebrations are the art fair, musical entertainment, children’s entertainment, baby/toddler activities, adult beverage garden, and a pet parade Sunday night. Have a teen? Their Saturday night “teen night” provides quality entertainment for teens until closing!
Check out the dozens of food trucks and vendors scheduled throughout the weekend! Kona Ice & SUSU Rolled Ice Cream can help cool you down, after a long day of 80+ degree weather and overhead sun! Other food places include, Taces El Tajin, My Sweet Lil Cakes, Tornado Potato, Chopstix, Monster Dogs, Snout & Company, and Hot Revolution Donuts.
No doubt this weekend is brimming with activity. From Seafair to summer concerts, movie nights, and local celebrations there’s no lack of recreation. Looking to stay on the cool side of the sun? Alki Beach and Golden Gardens are always excellent local choices for beach volleyball, waterside campfires, and splashing in the water. How about shade? Discovery Park is a great way to stay outdoors, while staying out of the sun. Dozens of trails, many through the natural forest, provide overhead cover from the harsh sun rays. But, don’t worry, there’s also a rocky beach and field to soak in the sun!
