“According to a new University of Iowa study, people are shopping farmers markets and joining food coops at record numbers because they enjoy knowing who grows their food.”

At this Sunday’s farmer market, there will be a special “Meet The Farmers” event to get to know the people who bring fresh, local foods to MIFM each week. This is a great way to celebrate your commitment to buying local, which has become a national movement according to a recent study by the University of Iowa. Definitely check out the full Science Daily article covering this recent study – it’s an interesting read.

Live Music at the September 27th market will be provided by Patrick Dougherty’s bluesy band On the Rock. At The Children’s Table With Judy, kids can explore all the amazing varieties of squashes grown by local farmers. Master Gardeners: Members of Master Gardeners Foundation of King County will be on site to answer questions. Stop by their booth to learn more about gardening best practices and find answers to those tricky garden problems you have been dealing with.
