Sunday, August 23rd, will be a hoppin’ day at the Mercer Island Farmers Market (MIFM). There’s so many fun activities going on— even a seasonal produce tasting event. Details are below by event category.
Besides being a celebrated shopping venue on Mercer Island, MIFM is a popular gathering spot for a casual stroll or to meet friends for a Sunday lunch date. If you haven’t visited MIFM before (or even if you have!), take a moment to check out the newest community video we produced. It features the many reasons why islanders love the farmers market so much.
Tasting Event: It’s All About Tomatoes. This week’s tasting event is compliments of Aljoya. Stop by to sample a delicious tomato recipe prepared with locally grown tomatoes.
Live Music: Enjoy an afternoon of “Americana Bliss” with Jill Cohn, who will be performing her own brand of modern folk songs and ballads.
Children’s Table With Judy: Garlic has been growing all summer. In this activity, kids can sprout some garlic of their own to add to a salad, or place in the ground to harvest next summer.
Master Gardeners: Members of Master Gardeners Foundation of King County will be on site to answer questions. Stop by their booth to learn more about gardening best practices and find answers to those tricky garden problems you have been dealing with.
