April turned out to be a remarkable real estate month for Mercer Island. The Island performed much better than the Eastside, Seattle or King County as a whole. For the month of April, active inventory was at its lowest and pending sales at their highest in any of the last 4 years. Average $ per sq.ft., a stable market indicator, was $392/sq ft–up from a low of $289/sq ft in 2010. The months of inventory for sale (4.6) and the absorption rate (30.2) were are their best levels in the past four years. Only time will tell if this is a lasting trend, but certainly it was a fabulous month for Island sales–even considering that we no longer have a home buyer tax stimulus credit as has existed for the last few years.

City of Mercer Island Website: Updated Look and Useful Additions
The City of Mercer Island website is sporting a fresh look. The updated city website includes the addition of GoogleMini. Website visitors will benefit from better searching capabilities, through the easy to use, familiar Google search function.
Another wonderful addition to the updated website is the capability to view council meetings on the web. Residents can watch council meetings as they are occurring. They can also watch video of previous meetings, search for council agendas using key words and filter by use months and years. What wonderful additions to the city website!
Both city news and the current calendar are viewable on the front page of the Mercer Island website, each entry with links to follow to read more information. The change of adding the calendar to the front page of the website should be incredibly helpful to island residents. Have you looked at the new city website and tried it out?
